Position Summary:
This position plays a vital role in leadership of Five Star Life Summit Operations and staff within the assigned department. A Summit Department Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing Summit department staff, day-to-day operations, quality control, training, and team development within their department. This position is both in and over Summit department operations within the assigned department, and works directly with directors and other managers to ensure excellence and fidelity in all areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of Department Staff
- Model and uphold a positive Five Star Life Culture, holding all staff to that Culture and to a high standard of excellence in all areas
- Manage day-to-day tasks, projects, deadlines, delegation, and completion of work
- Inspect the work, personal condition, attitude, productivity, personal growth, and productivity of all staff daily
- Be clear, effective, and consistent in daily communication with all staff about goals, outcomes, tasks, deadlines, expectations, and adjustments
- Schedule all department staff, interns, and volunteers
- Recruit and train, or manage the training, of all staff, interns, and volunteers
- Management of Department Operations
- Manage scheduling of staff and volunteer hours and day-to-day work
- Manage staff timecards
- Manage Department Inventory and Ordering
- Manage staff growth tracks, development plans, reviews, check-ins, forecasts, accountability plans, consequences, etc.
- Manage staff understanding and demonstration of Five Star Life staff policies and procedures
- Manage department facilities by keeping facilities to a high standard of excellence and tour-readiness at all times, and by reporting any concerns, requests, or damage to the Summit Director
- Manage the use of department equipment and machinery
- Quality control to ensure excellence in areas of operations, facility care, presentation, task completion, safety, etc.
- Organizational Support and Other as Determined by The Business Office
- Participate in team meetings, staff workdays, service projects, and fundraising event support
- Support logistics for events and occasional fundraising activities
- Drive between Five Star Life sites (Elkhart, Union, and Osceola)
- Develop and maintain systematic and efficient approaches to all tasks to ensure completion at a high level and in a timely manner to support organizational goals and needs.
- Expense request order submissions as applicable.
Qualifications and Skills
- High level of character, integrity, and reliability
- Ability to work independently and solve problems with minimal supervision
- Servant Leader
- Ability to develop and challenge team members while holding them accountable and to high standards
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Associate’s Degree or higher
- 1+ years experience in a leadership and management role
- Interest in a department working with education, experiential learning, outdoor learning and impacting students
