The SNAP Leadership Program, in partnership with the St. Joseph County Juvenile Justice Center, is an initiative targeting youth whom the system is currently failing. This program is a net that aims to catch these kids and come alongside their parents and families to focus on one key component: violence prevention among the youth in our community. Five Star Life’s goal is to scale this program into additional detention centers across the country. The SNAP Leadership Program Director is responsible for all development, preparation, and successful implementation of all aspects of the SNAP Leadership Program. This role includes volunteer and staff recruitment, training, and care, as well as event development and implementation. This individual, in partnership with FSL staff, will also be charged with scaling the program. In addition, this role requires impeccable data collection skills and tracking. Must be a true servant leader who lives by the FSL Core Values and a problem solver, always looking for solutions.

Reports to:  Five Star Life Board President

Essential Job Functions:

MARKETING: 20% TIME ALLOTMENT

  • Marketing of Five Star Life Video Curriculum and the SNAP Leadership Program
  • Meet with detention centers, judges, foundations, businesses, news outlets and decision makers to help scale Five Star Life Video Curriculum and the SNAP Leadership Program
  • Attend important community events that will help market the program

DEVELOPMENT & IMPLEMENTATION: 50% TIME ALLOTMENT

  • Develop and Implement the SNAP Leadership Program
  • Schedule yearly-calendar dates: 
  • Create program outlines and implement SNAP
  • Cultivation and client connection with all partners
  • Preparation: 
  • Prepare materials, in conjunction with SNAP team
  • Implementation: the process of putting a decision or plan into effect; execution
  • Attend, oversee, and close out all SNAP events (when applicable) 
  • Manages all data collection for SNAP, in conjunction with juvenile justice centers and schools

  • RECRUITMENT: 20% TIME ALLOTMENT
  • Recruitment and Care
  • Cultivation with churches, colleges, community groups, schools, etc. to recruit volunteers and staff 
  • Interview potential candidates to ensure they are a good fit for FSL and embody our DNA
  • Train volunteers and staff through all requirements before events
  • Organize and maintain work schedules and ensure there is enough volunteers/staff to cover an event
  • Continually develop volunteers and staff to ensure highest level of impact for our kids

  • OTHER: 10% TIME ALLOTMENT
  • Other SNAP duties as directed by Supervisor

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Knowledge of organizations mission, values, policies, procedures, and events
  • Knowledge of curriculum, standards, platform and technology required for implementation
  • Skill- problem solving and the ability to come up with viable solutions
  • Skill in coaching youth and adults within the SNAP program
  • Skill in effective management of staff who implement programming
  • Skill in marketing, networking, and relationship building (personnel and educators)
  • Ability to implement FSL curriculum
  • Ability to effectively communicate (in person or remote) with clients, staff, and supervisors.
  • Reliable Transportation

  • Ability to communicate effectively via text, email, face to face, and in a group setting
  • Excellent Personal Care (such as hygiene, dress, etc.)
  • Bilingual preferred, not required
