There are some things you can't learn in school. At school, however, is another story.
Five Star partners with schools to bring regularly scheduled events that encourage and engage.
With food, fun, music and messages in their language, kids are nurtured to build relationships with coaches who “get” them — and give them great examples of five-star life ingredients:
"Tweens" and teens — at that angst-filled age that flip-flops between "really confused" and "knowing it all."
They apply and are hand-selected. (Yes, you heard that right.) Five Star wants the kids who want to change their lives and their options. By requiring applications, we let them know that this is "serious" fun — not just an occasional after-school free-for-all.
Three 8-week sessions per year. Once a week per school campus. Plus some day trips for special projects or team-building exercises — like the Summit Adventure ropes course.
First, games and physical activity — to run off a little energy. Then, exercises that promote team-building, communication and conflict-resolution skills. Food, of course (these are kids we're talking about). And a brief but high-impact group discussion with the site coach on teen-relevant topics and issues. Oh, and the kids clean up the facility before they leave. (Really.)
